the biggest hackathon of education at the national level
2 day competition, EduHack2021, took place online during December 11-12, 2021 bringing together education experts, non-governmental associations, students, teachers, parents, students, scientists, entrepreneurs, programmers, designers, storytellers, artists, people with innovative ideas in the same place.
The competition is organized annually by the organizations: Romanian Tech Startups Association, ClujHub and Techcelerator.
More than 250 participants from more than 50 cities and 5 countries had to devise a solution, with only 36 hours at their disposal, for one of the 6 challenges that were launched to them: EduAccess, EduOption, EduShare, EduRecycle, YourEdu, Edu+++.
Of the 25 teams formed during the hackathon, 20 presented the solutions identified for the most common problems of formal and non-formal education in the final which took place on December 12, 2021 and which can be watched on Facebook page A Romanian Tech Startups Association.
The winners of the Eduhack2021 edition are:
First prize: QuantumCats – a solution that comes to the aid of high school students in the form of a high school survival guide, an application that will guide students through the difficult years of high school. The application gives high school students the opportunity to know their rights in school to reduce the abuse of students' rights by teachers.
"The biggest gains of an EduHack participant would be: networking, access to the knowledge of all the mentors and jurors, they were very helpful for us, even if we didn't have time to talk to everyone, by the simple fact that I having the opportunity to be in a Zoom meeting with them really mattered a lot. And in addition to all this, the pace of work helped us, which is very alert and you don't have time to think or implement too many things, so you have to organize your time and resources very well. For our team this event was really fun, we worked on the demo, listened to music, sang, we were very stressed, but at the same time we tried to enjoy the whole experience.." said Alexandra Popescu – member of the QuantumCats team, about the experience at EduHack 2021.
Second prize: Manuscrito – an alternative to the learning process, helps to make the "first steps" easier. By combining artificial intelligence with psychological factors they aim to implement an application that helps children improve their writing interactively.
Prize III: Edu 3D – a solution that consists of creating a Remote Hub for 3D printing and modeling, which facilitates a better understanding of subjects in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) area and beyond.
The species awardl: Vespertilio – a solution that maximizes concentration levels for reading, working and studying through a simulated, digital library.
The winners will have many benefits from organizers and sponsors including interactive entrepreneurship sessions to support ideas that can become start-ups, but also cash prizes: First Prize – 3000 lei, Second Prize – 2000 lei offered by Genuineq, Third Prize – 1000 lei and a special prize worth 1500 lei offered by Brilliant.
