StartupCity Cluj-Napoca Days

The Cluster of Education is organising “StartupCity Cluj-Napoca Days”, an umbrella brand under which a series of events with a focus on youth and innovation are happening between the 17th-20th of May.

Innowave Summit 2022 – 19th-20th May | Grand Hotel Italia
The Cluster of Education, alongside Bulgarian Business Forums, as implementors of the Global StartupCities Initiative, are collaborating in bringing Innowave Summit for the first time to Cluj-Napoca. They enjoy the support of the Municipalities of Cluj-Napoca and Varna. Innowave Summit, originally a Varna brand, has a main focus on the digitalization of the private and public sectors and enhancing digital transformation and technology transfer in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe alongside innovation in education. “The vision of Innowave Summit 2022 Cluj-Napoca is to unite the digital leaders of Europe and boost the innovation ecosystems”

The collaboration of the two cities is especially important in the context of the European Year of Youth, showcasing how two cities can collaborate in bringing education and youth to the next level. The event will enjoy international visibility, and amongst other representatives of local, national, and international authorities, will enjoy the presence of Mariya Gabriel the European Commissioner on Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, as well as Apostolos Tzitzikostas, president of the European Committee of the Regions.

Startup World Cup – 19th of May | Grand Hotel Italia
One of the side events of Innowave Summit 2022 is one of the Regional Events of the Startup World Cup. This is the first time a Regional Startup World Cup is held in Romania. The winner will have the chance to compete alongside some of the best start-ups in the world and win a prize of 1 000 000 USD.

Europe Goes Local – 19th May | CREIC (Centrul Regional pentru Excelență în Industrii Creative)

At the beginning of 2020, the family of Europe Goes Local (ELG) officially welcomed its newest member – the Romanian National Agency. The 4th European ELG Event will be held in Cluj-Napoca, hosted by the Romanian National Agency.

The European Year of Youth is the perfect opportunity for former European Youth Capitals to come together and form an official Network, working together towards the brand of Youth Friendly Cities.

Local Citizen Dialogue 19th of May 16:30 | Central Park Casino
Co-organised by the European Committee of the Regions and the Municipality of Cluj-Napoca on the theme “Europe unfolds in Transylvania: Building on democracy, education and youth. What’s next after the Conference on the Future of Europe?”. The event seeks to discuss the conclusions of the Conference on the Future of Europe and involve the local ecosystem in shaping the future of the city.

Women in Tech 20th of May | Grand Hotel Italia
Another side event of Innowave Summit is “Women in Tech”, co-organised with The Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, and the Romanian Digitalisation Authority. The side event starts with a panel in the Innowave Summit (Business Hall 9:00-10:30), and will continue in parallel with the Summit.
